Experimental Research on the Remediation Ability of Four Wetland Plants on Acid Mine Drainage

In order to study the economical, efficient, and environmentally friendly techniques for treatment of acid mine drainage (AMD), this paper investigated effects watering with AMD on growth condition, resilience four wetland plants, as well uptake transport pollutants by plants. The results showed that Typha orientalis was more resistant (irrigation increased its catalase activity glutathione content promoted growth), so it suitable treating high concentrations (SO42− ≈ 9400 mg/L); Cyperus glomeratus medium 4600 Scirpus validus Phragmites australis could be used treat low 2300 mg/L). All plants phytoextraction Mn-contaminated water (TF > 1). Zn-contaminated water, other three phytostabilisation < 1); microbial biomass in soil affected not only concentration but also plant species. This provides a scientific basis phytoremediation technology AMD.
